Spirit moves me…Inspiration comes from life’s experience and research. Emotional and spiritual awareness of relationships formed with everything and everyone are revealed in my creations. Cultural and historical research also gives me a foundation to create, connecting me to my ancestry of African, Native American, and European.
My Story
Still working as a technical communication specialist, I strive for excellence. Spanning a career of over thirty years in the technical industry, escaping to the studio keeps me grounded. As I've grown in my daytime career, I've found that relaxation and rejuvenation from the daily routine are essential.
When I'm Gone for the Day, I escape to the studio to free myself finding peace, freeing my spirit, and calming my soul. Art heals...
About the Art
Gone for the Day Studio consists of one person, myself. I push myself to expand and explore every day.
I innovate and extend the boundaries of traditional methods by combining various mediums including technology. I photograph all artwork and use certain images to create new digital masterpieces. Abstract sculpture is carved from a solid block of material using a mallet and chisel or various other techniques. Clay pieces are hand-built or wheel-thrown, and each is an original. Clay pieces are finished using various techniques i.e., staining or glazing.
